Question: My colleague just came back from Europe with a jar of anti-wrinkle cream that she seems to like a lot. It’s called Caracol Cream, and I am curious to find out more. Is it available in the US?

Answer: Caracol Cream is marketed by a Canadian company called E-Credible Solutions Inc. It is not clear whether they manufacture the cream as well, but they say they have been selling the cream to private spas in the US and Europe for over six years. Caracol Cream claims to make you look younger within one to two months by penetrating deep into the skin where most aging begins. The main ingredient is an extract from the Chilean mountain snail, which they say has been used by top salons as an anti-aging treatment for years. In addition, it contains retynil palmitate, coenzyme Q10, Matryxil-3000, and alpha lipoic acid, all of which are used in many other anti-wrinkle creams. It also contains allantoin to diminish scar tissue, antibiotic peptides to protect the skin, natural sunscreen to combat sun damage, vitamins for nourishment, elastins to help retain shape, glycolic acid to exfoliate, and collagen to smooth and tighten. They do not list the full ingredients, which may be a problem for those with sensitive skin or allergies.

They offer a 14-day free trial if you complete a qualification form by a deadline and 60 day money back guarantee for orders. The website mentions numerous studies supporting their claims, giving the name of the laboratories but not the specifics of the studies themselves. There are a few positive testimonials with before and after photos. However, the small type under testimonials says that “individuals have been remunerated,” meaning these are paid testimonies. They claim to have appeared on several major online news sites but don’t provide links or details. They offer live chat, phone, or email customer service.

If you do shop for an anti-wrinkle product in a health store, pharmacy or on the Internet, you'll often find hundreds of different brands containing a confusing array of ingredients. You may be tempted to experiment with different products until you find one that works. But this approach may be expensive. More importantly, not all products contain the quality and quantity of necessary ingredients to positively promote long-term improvements on the appearance of wrinkles and an overall healthy complexion. That's why you'll need to do a little bit of research to find the best, most potent brand for your needs.
