Blood flow after uterus removal PDF Print E-mail
Question : I AM a healthy, single woman aged 42. I had an operation to remove my uterine fibroid as well my uterus, but I still experience some blood flow a few days every month. The doctor gave me antibiotics and asked me to see him while having my period as he wanted to investigate where the blood is coming from. Currently, I have watery discharge that has no offensive smell. What should I do to get rid of my problem?
Answer : YOU may need to confirm with the medical practitioner the real cause for the discharge. The problem could be bacterial vaginosis or yeast vaginitis. The vaginal flora has "good" and "bad" bacteria existing side by side. A balanced vaginal flora is important for urogenital health. However, many factors contribute to an imbalance -- poor personal hygiene, wearing very tight underwear, a diet high in refined carbohydrates, frequent use of antibiotics, low immunity, prolonged stress and sexual intercourse with an infected person.
There are various studies that show promising results in the treatment and prevention of urogenital infections (UGI). Studies indicate that the beneficial strains Lactobacillus GR-1 and Lactobacillus RC-14 potentially reduce the risks of UGI and are safe for daily consumption. Other studies show the activity of the Lactobacilli stops invading bacteria from adhering to the urethral and vaginal surfaces, and stress that this ability can be used to both protect against infection and to restore the normal bacteria balance once infection has taken place.
You may try taking a supplement containing these two beneficial probiotics. The strength of five billion c.f.u. to 10 billion c.f.u. can help to replenish the good bacteria microflora in the vaginal area and help prevent an infection from recurring.
