Diabetes: Control It Naturally PDF Print E-mail
Insulin is a hormone which permits blood glucose to enter the cells in the body in order to generate energy. In diabetes heavy amount glucose is present in the blood. Increased levels of blood glucose is called hyperglycemia, it causes spillage in the urine due to glucose. The result the cells to be are starved for energy. Ultimately, those starved cells can lead to a permanent nerves break down.

There are two types of diabetes:

  1. Type 1 diabetes is caused due to the body’s inability to produce insulin. This type of diabetes requires daily insulin injections to stay alive.
  2. Type 2 diabetes is caused due to the body’s inability to properly use insulin. Changes in lifestyle can maintain type 2 diabetes, but sometimes oral medications are required.

Most of the people with diabetes have type 2 diabetes. As many as half of all people with type 2 diabetes are not aware they have this life threatening disease because they have no regular symptoms.

SYMPTOMS OF DIABETES

The first thing you should do if you have experienced the under mentioned symptoms is to contact your doctor.

  • Frequent urination
  • Blurred vision
  • Constant nausea or vomiting
  • Tingling or numbness in the feet
  • Swelling in hand, feet, face, or leg

DIABETES TREATMENT ALTERNATIVES

There is no 100% cure for diabetes. But still there are many ways to control it. To control diabetes, you must maintain your blood glucose levels and body weight. Pursuing a healthy diet plan, a daily exercise schedule, and having regular check-up with your doctor can help in solving both of these problems.

DIET

Generally, the best type of diet to follow is a low-fat diet. The eating plan for diabetes should be a balanced health diet, the same kind that is recommended for the rest of the population.
  • Limited intake of salted foods, refined sugar, and fatty foods, particularly those of animal based. Choose lesser amounts of vegetable oil or olive oil as an alternative.
  • Eat rich diet like fruits and vegetables everyday. Your should have 5 servings per day.
  • Take a high-fiber carbohydrates as a major part of your diet.

WORK OUT

Without fail, follow a regular exercise plan. Exercise is mainly important for diabetics as it helps to regulate blood sugar levels. If you do not participate in regular exercise, even something as simple as a quick walk, consult your doctor for advice about exactly how much exercise you need. Any movement is better than none!

Consider these benefits of exercise:

  • * It reduces demands on the pancreas (The pancreas secretes insulin.)
  • * It recovers circulation.
  • * It lessens blood sugar.
  • * It helps to promote weight loss.
  • * It reduces stress.
Managing diabetes requires daily disciplined schedule. For the sake of your long-term health, you must not pass on the planning of your diet and lifestyle to someone else. It is your life and your responsibility. The only way to complete this is to learn as much as you can about following a nutritious diet and make some lifestyle revolutionize.
