Question: I was curious about anti-cellulite creams to treat my dimpled skin on my thighs and buttocks. I have heard of a product called BodyShape Skin Toning Lotion, but don’t know that much about it. How does it work? Does it really reduce cellulite?

Answer: Many women are turning to treatments to help aid in reducing or erasing embarrassing cellulite. There are numerous products on the market that claim to rid women of cellulite. BodyShape Skin Toning Lotion, manufactured by Hydroderm, is one such product that claims to help women get rid of cellulite by massaging the lotion into problem areas twice a day. BodyShape Skin Toning Lotion lists its active ingredients as organic caffeine to reduce dimpling, kukui nut oil for moisture, and tea tree extract to smooth skin texture. They do not list any other ingredients or the concentration levels for the active ingredients.

Although caffeine has been shown to be a diuretic, or a product that rids the body of excess water, which could potentially cause a slimming effect on treated areas, the reality is that these results are only temporary at best. Consumers may see results for a while but most scientific research shows that anti-cellulite creams have very few lasting effects.

Francis Peterson, our respected beauty expert, did a fantastic review on anti-cellulite creams and their actual effectiveness in a recent feature, the results are quite surprising.
