It can be very difficult to catch the early symptoms of arthritis. However, it is the most important step towards successfully treating this disease before it can cause considerable damage to the patient. Recognizing the disease at the earliest and then taking the preventive steps with the help of right medication is the key to ward off the disease.

Early Arthritis SymptomsArthritis can show up in many ways including joint stiffness and joint pain. The motion of joints and other parts of the body becomes restricted and redness around the affected area can be observed.

Arthritis has more than 100 different forms and this is why it is necessary to gather as much information as possible to take the right steps to counter the disease. The doctor evaluates many things before finally choosing a specific treatment. These factors include: the current physical health and medical history of the patient and how far the disease has progressed in the patient’s body.

Understanding the differences between the types of arthritis and their causes is very crucial for a patient. This helps the patient to make the decision to whether or not to report the happenings to the doctor.

Basic knowledge of arthritis:

The more knowledge you have about arthritis, the better you will be prepared for the appointment with the doctor. This knowledge will help you in interacting with the doctor and to discuss the facts and figures of the disease in a better way. Moreover, you can also ask your questions more openly and confidently to remove any of your doubts regarding the disease.

Rheumatoid Arthritis

This is a type of inflammatory arthritis. The patient experiences joint pain while there are chances that other organs may even be affected. Bones in hands and feet can start paining along with extended morning stiffness. Pain in symmetrical joints is generally experienced like pain in both knees and not a single knee.

Osteoarthritis

This type of arthritis mainly attacks joints rather than affecting the other system organs. The body joints that are used the most become stiff mainly in the later part of the day with noticeable swelling and warmness in these parts. This type of arthritis can even occur with other forms of arthritis. Bones start enlarging and other severe effects can be seen.

Ankylosing Spondylitis

This kind of arthritis is often accompanied with inflammation in the lower spine, which can extend to other body parts. The inflammation in the lower spine can result in stiffness and chronic pains in the hip and lower back region. Research says that the pain may worsen after long inactivity. This pain may further also develop trouble in the rib cage area and the neck.

Lupus
This can have immediate effects on the nervous system, heart, lungs, kidneys, skin and joints as well. This type of arthritis has symptoms that are not much different from the symptoms of rheumatic disease, which is why early diagnosis of this disease can be difficult. Rashes are common in this disease and are generally seen on the nose and cheeks.

Gout
It is a painful inflammation of the big toe and foot caused by defects in uric acid metabolism resulting in deposits of the acid and its salts in the blood and joints. This is the worst case of arthritis. It is often accompanied by redness, warmness, tenderness, pain and swelling of the affected area. However, unlike the Rheumatoid Arthritis, it is experienced in a single joint. The elbow, wrist, hand, knee, ankle and foot can also be affected. Gout attacks the patient at night and other areas which are less prone to its attack include spine, hips and shoulders. The basic defense against arthritis is precaution and alertness. The moment you feel something is wrong with the proper functioning of your joints, you should report this to a qualified doctor.
