Question: I am a skeptic when it comes to creams and lotions that claim to work miracles on your cellulite or wrinkly skin. Recently, however, my sister-in-law has been raving about this product called Oligo-DX, Cellulite Reducing Gel. She says that she has seen results and is very happy with the product. I was wondering if this product is actually as effective as I’ve heard or if my sister-in-law’s results are a product of her head.
Answer: Oligo-DX, manufactured by DS Laboratories is a unique product on the market for treating cellulite. What the manufacturers claim on their website is that the product contains high concentrations of Hydrocotyl, (about 28% concentration). Hydrocotyl, a product originally found to treat wounds and ulcers and promote healing has also been shown to boost collagen levels and stimulate skin regeneration. Collagen is the naturally occurring substance in the body that keeps skin tight and youthful. The website for Oligo-DX cites clinical research from independent laboratories around the world supporting the findings that Hydrocotyl can tighten and firm skin.
The evidence regarding Hydrocotyl is pretty substantial (findings can be independently researched, not in association with Oligo-DX). However, there is no evidence that proves that the concentration level found in Oligo-DX is potent enough to produce the kind of results that the website claims. In addition, Hydrocotyl appears to be pretty powerful and one should consult with a doctor before using a product containing levels of a potent drug such as this.
